Change in addresses of sole traders

The Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE) is the reference database containing all identification data of legal entities and companies established or registered in Belgium. It is an important source for suppliers of trade information such as Trends Business Information.

In order to comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation, the registered office address of companies-natural persons (i.e. the domicile address of the person in question) will no longer be provided by the CBE to licensees as of 1 September. For a population of approximately 600,000 active enterprise-natural persons, the registered office address will therefore no longer be available. However, the business unit addresses will remain available.

Trends Business Information does not only collect data from official sources such as the CBE. As a result, we can continue to check and update the addresses of the impacted population based on various other sources and our own research. For more than 60% of the active enterprise-natural persons, nothing will change: the address of the business unit where the activity takes place is also the domicile address. For companies where the activity takes place at a different location, the registered office address will be replaced by the most logical business unit address, based on our experience with this type of data. Initially, we might not be able to prevent that an address will no longer be available for 15% of the population mentioned.

Trends Business Information will of course continue to strive for qualitative, correct, up-to-date and complete data. Moreover, every action is checked against the applicable regulations with regard to the collection and processing of data.
